TEQUILA
AND HER FRIENDS
tequila, Congo African Grey, Born March 1999.
This is our newest baby, an African Grey parrot we named tequila.
We got her (we think it's a female) when she was only about 2 weeks old.
She was a featherless ugly thing and we though for what seemed like the
longest time that she would never start looking like a real bird. After
a few months, her feathers grew and she got bigger and eventually grew into a beautiful,
very intelligent parrot.
The following pictures are what our baby looked like growing up, and some
of her friends.
tequila as of today is 13 months old and beginning to speak quite well,
her latest words are HELLO, GRANDMA, and THANK YOU, and she says them very clearly.
***UPDATE***
These pictures were taken just over 3 years ago.
Today (November 2002) our tequila has a vocabulary of a few hundred words and
climbing.
She is continuously amazing us with her intelligence and wit.
This is tequila at 5 and 6 weeks old, just a cuddly ball of fuzz.
At 7 and 8 weeks she is beginning to grow feathers on her wings and at
8 weeks old she began getting some little red feathers on her tail.
At 9, 10, and 11 weeks tequila continues to grow new feathers, her
bright red tail feathers are really starting to stand out and she's beginning to get quite
the personality.
At 12 weeks old she begins eating more on her own and enjoys playing
and acting like a real parrot.
Here she is at 16 weeks old, enjoying her new home.
